
Both tournaments were held in north Alabama this year in the cities of Madison and Huntsville. The tournaments drew in a total of 28 competitors at the All-Girls tournament in February and 173 competitors across 8 sections at the State Scholastic in March.
After 5 rounds spanning two days, both the Primary and High School Championship sections resulted in a two way tie for first place. There will be following playoffs held between the co-champions in both sections to determine the AL representative to go on to the national competitions.
Milan Malak (1177) achieved the only perfect result with 5/5, definitively winning the Elementary Championship section.
