March will be an exciting month for chess in Alabama! After a busy February, we are ready to bring more events to you. Here is a quick look at what will be happening in the state in March 2021.
Mar 20 – March Event (Alabama Online Grand Prix Series – event #3) – Location: Chess.com – Sections: USCF unrated Premiere, U1800, U1200 – Prizes: Cash prizes and GP points available – **Flyer Link**
Mar 27 – Alabama Individual Scholastic STATE CHAMPIONSHIP – Location: Chesskid.com – Sections: USCF rated 9-12 Championship, 6-8 Championship, K-5 Championship, K-3 Championship, 9-12 Under 1400, 6-8 Under 1100, K-5 Under 500, K-3 Under 300 – Prizes: Trophies and the top scores in the 9-12, 6-8, and K-5 championships will be invited to a playoff for rights to represent Alabama at the nationals this summer – **Flyer Link**
Mar 28 – Alabama Team Scholastic STATE CHAMPIONSHIP – Location: Chesskid.com – Sections: USCF rated K-12 School Team, K-12 Club Team, K-8 School Team, K-8 Club Team, K-5 School Team, K-5 Club Team, K-3 School Team, K-3 Club Team – Prizes: Trophies and state titles in each group – **Flyer Link**

March Game Competition – In March, the ACF will host a month-long game-playing competition! The ACF believes in the powers of practice and competition and how games can teach those skills to you. Whoever players the most chess.com rated games will get bragging rights and be recognized in our month in review newsletter! To participate, you must be an **active ACF member**, have a chess.com account, and request to join **this chess.com group**.
Alabama Grand Prix – Do not think it is too late to join the Alabama Online Grand Prix! Each monthly event is a separate tournament. You can participate in one GP event or all six. If you aspire to reach the finals, points from five total events (best five if you play six) will count, so the more you play the better! To play, ensure you have an **active ACF membership** and fill out **this google form** to register.
