February will be an exciting month for chess in Alabama! After a fantastic January (click here for our January 2021 Month in Review), we are ready to bring more events to you. Here is a quick look at what will be happening in the state in February 2021.
Feb 13 – February Event (Alabama Online Grand Prix Series – event #2) – Location: Chess.com – Sections: USCF unrated Premiere, U1800, U1200 – Prizes: Cash prizes and GP points available – **Flyer Link**
Feb 20 – Alabama All-Girls STATE CHAMPIONSHIP – Location: Chesskid.com – Sections: USCF rated K-12 Championship, K-6, K-3 – Prizes: Trophies and the top 4 scores in the K-12 will be invited to an NGTOC playoff for rights to represent Alabama as Alabama’s top girl player – **Flyer Link**

February Puzzle Competition – In February the ACF will host a month-long puzzle competition! The ACF believes in the powers of pattern recognition and creativity and how puzzles can teach those skills to you. Whoever solves the most chess.com rated puzzles will get bragging rights and be recognized in our month in review newsletter! To participate, you must be an **active ACF member**, have a chess.com account, and request to join **this chess.com group**.
Alabama Grand Prix – Do not think it is too late to join the Alabama Online Grand Prix! Each monthly event is a separate tournament. You can participate in one GP event or all six. If you aspire to reach the finals, points from five total events (best five if you play six) will count, so the more you play the better! To play, ensure you have an **active ACF membership** and fill out **this google form** to register.
Alabama State Scholastic Chess Championships – While not technically a “February Look Ahead” item, the ASSCC has been announced for March 27-28 on chesskid.com! **Individual Event Flyer Link** **Team Event Flyer Link**
